CINEMATIC MUSIC VIDEO: Stay+ — “The Buzzer” [directed by DEERHEAD]

April 16, 2012

Stay+ (pronounced Stay Positive) was our first installment of our version of Best New Music, PHIEND. As I’ve noted earlier, Stay+ is like a never-ending musical art installation, merging visual aesthetics with musical overtones.

Stay+ is intriguing by itself, the music can stand alone, but when they team up with visual artist DEERHEAD for the 18 minute short film, “The Buzzer,” all hell breaks loose. With deeply rooted thematic elements, ideally beautiful cinematography, and stunningly gorgeous actresses, “The Buzzer” uses Stay+’s ultra-cinematic music throughout the film to convey his highly-awaited EP, Arem. “The Buzzer” is the first track off the EP due out April 30 through RAMP Recordings.

Noisey, who premiered the video earlier today, describes it like this:

London director DEERHEAD (Stay+’s longterm visual collaborator) has worked on a film entitled ‘The Buzzer’, an 18 minute montage depicting a possessive force named Arem. Broadcasting over Russia’s UVB-76 frequency, Arem influences the owner of the Tricorn Club to confuse and abuse his dancers. (via YouTube).
